Changemakers
A CHANGEMAKER is someone who has dedicated their time to social activism, volunteerism, and the overall mission of making their communities a better place by elevating all voices. A CHANGEMAKER promotes and supports individuals from all walks of life including those of various ethnicities, cultures, sexual orientation, disabilities, etc. The goal of the event was to highlight the beautiful and diverse tapestry that makes up our District. A beautiful first Changemaker Event who featured iconic farm labor rights activist Dolores Huerta and bilingual education pioneer/author Alma Flor Ada. These two Changemakers spoke to an audience about their personal stories and journeys, inspiring us all to be Changemakers here in our local communities.
We honored 2 MSD15 students, Jocelyn V. and Adrianny V., and 1 MSD15 staff member, Therese Ziecina, who were nominated among their peers for being Changemakers within our school district for the 2023-2024 School Year. The event was held inside the MMS Performing Arts Center on March 22nd. The event was free and open to the public. The evening featured live performances from our MSD15 schools, a dance troupe, and more. Please be on the lookout for future Changemakers recipients for the 2024-2025 School Year.
