Math Vocabulary
Research reports that academic vocabulary is one of the strongest indicators of how well students will comprehend and learn a particular subject content area at the start of the school year. Therefore educators and instruction need to build, strengthen, and develop each student's academic vocabulary to ensure future success in a particular subject area.
The district has identified the key mathematical vocabulary that students need to know in order to be successful at their grade level. This vocabulary in mathematics will allow students to be able to read, write, listen, and speak - in other words, engage in the discussion of the world of mathematics effectively.
